Frequently Asked Questions about Analyst ConferencesAre analyst conferences required by law?Analysts conferences are not specifically required by law, but are partly a result of SEC regulations. In the past analysts from some brokerage houses have had better access to information from some companies' management than individual investors. The SEC ruled that information about a publicly traded company must be made available to all investors at the same time, as was already the case with SEC filings. To simplify this process most companies decided to answer analyst questions once per quarter, in a public forum. However, companies may choose not to hold a conference. They have other methods of making information available to investors, notably press releases and SEC filings. What is an analyst conference? |
